Roger Johnson was last night discussing contract terms with Birmingham City, just as the club formally confirmed two other captures to firm up their rearguard.
After weeks of protracted negotiations, Cardiff City finally accepted the structure of a £5 million offer for the Championship’s highly-rated centre-back.
It was an initial outlay of £2 million that eventually pleased the Bluebirds enough to allow Johnson to start talking personal terms with Birmingham on a transfer that should be concluded before the end of the week.
